About Dr. Cardenas
Dr. Ana Cárdenas is a graduate of Wellesley College in Massachusetts, where she studied anthropology and psychobiology, before moving on to Washington D.C. and the George Washington University School of Medicine. She received her M.D. in June 1991 and then committed herself to serving her country in the United States Army for the next seven years.
After completing a transitional internship at Walter Reed Army Medical Center, Dr. Cárdenas served as a General Medical Officer for the 43rd MASH, Unit 15190 at Camp Humphreys in Korea. She returned to Washington, D.C., for a three-year dermatology residency at Walter Reed. Promoted to Major in her final years, she finished up her military career as the director of the Dermatology Department at Winn Army Community Hospital in Fort Stewart, Georgia, and received the Army Meritorious Service Medal.
Certified by the American Board of Dermatology, Dr. Cárdenas stays abreast of the latest advances in her field with memberships in the American Academy of Dermatology, American Society for Mohs Surgery, Kern County Medical Society.
Dr. Cárdenas is licensed to practice in California and Florida. Dr. Cárdenas is affiliated with both Bakersfield Memorial Hospital and Mercy Hospital. She is fluent in Spanish and English.
